ACT FOR A BETTER FUTURE
LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND!
Currently 193 world leaders are committing to 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice while respecting the planet’s boundaries.
17 Universal Goals - for all countries – for all people.
In order to make this happen we need YOU. The future is yours.
Let’s start now.
Let’s start with you!
The Sustainable Development Goals are following in the footsteps of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The MDGs were a set of eight measurable goals that ranged from halving extreme poverty and hunger to promoting gender equality and reducing child mortality, by the target date of 2015. The new Sustainable Development Goals want to build on the progress already made but with a special focus on building a sustainable world where environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and economic development are equally valued. It is non-negotiable that those living in poverty have to be included in the implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals. The “of the people, by the people, and for the people” approach should guide implementation at the sub-national and national levels. We call for inclusive, public approaches to follow-up and review the progress in achieving the goals.
The UN Summit for Sustainable Development 2015 marks the culmination of several years of negotiations. Now, UN member states must demonstrate their commitment to implementation by sharing national action plans and sustainable development strategies.
I prefer an easy introduction.
I’d like to get more details.
What are the challenges?
Luxembourg in Action!
Caritas Luxembourg is part of the world wide movement Action 2015, a coalition of over 2020 organisations around the world who are committed to fight for a better future. As part of this coalition, Caritas Luxembourg initiated the making of a short video clip to symbolically #light the way! to a better future
